This week in our teaching series in the Gospel of Mark – The Good News About Jesus – we will be looking at Chapters 2 verses 23-27 and 3 verses 1-6 focusing on Jesus Is Lord of the Sabbath. The Sabbath is the gift we so often reject, so what did God intend for the Sabbath?

Challenge

Unplug for a day this week. Take a break from TV, social media and shopping. Focus on demonstrating God’s love for your family and your neighbours (Mark 2:27)

Any suggestions about how we can personally or as a household prepare for sabbath?

We considered looking at things in a different way. Has anything today prompted you to think differently? Are there any practices that you personally want to explore on sabbath?

If we, as a community of people (who have a relationship with God/are generally not having to worry about where our next meal comes from or where we are going to sleep) can struggle with making sabbath happen who can we show Gods love by helping them experience Sabbath. We’ve been gifted this, how do we gift it to someone else? (Think about Homeless, Unemployed, Low income, Carers, Neighbours, people who work on a Sunday.)
